A Colorado Dude Ranch Vacation
Homesteaded in 1890, Black Mountain Ranch is a working guest ranch located between Vail and Steamboat Springs in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. At an elevation of 8,200 feet, the ranch is surrounded by the Routt National Forest.
Activities
Arriving on Sunday afternoon, your week long package includes lodging, all meals, unlimited horseback riding, an overnight pack trip, a longhorn cattle drive, whitewater rafting, fly and spin fishing, rifle and trap shooting, archery, and a trip to a local rodeo. There are no hidden or extra fees for any of our activities. We own all our horses and take pride in finding the right horse for each rider - whether it is a gentle seasoned mount for the novice or a more spirited ranch horse for the experienced rider. And yes, we let you lope!
Accommodations & Meals
We offer a variety of accommodations on our ranch. From cozy suites to private cabins, all western themed rooms have hand-hewn log beds and incredible views. Relax with a massage after riding or take a dip in our heated pool or in one of the ranch hot tubs. Our Saloon is fully licensed and is a great place to gather after a ride or for an evening of entertainment and story swapping.
Our meals vary from cookouts in the wilderness to gourmet in the lodge. Our chef will tempt you with hearty breakfasts, warm cookies, refreshing lunches, tasty appetizers, and a choice of entrees at dinner along with complimentary wine at dinner.
Children's Program & Ranch Philosophy
We want YOU to choose what you want to do, when you want to do it, and whom you want to do it with. We encourage families to ride together but also offer kids programs and activities. Teens will never be bored here. With so much to do, adults and singles will find the ranch is a great place to vacation. We try to offer our activities in the most flexible way possible.
