Walking in Vermont
With more than 700 miles of hiking trails winding through untamed landscapes, quaint country villages, and the picturesque Green Mountains, Vermont is an ideal walking destination. Naturally, a trip to the Green Mountain State calls for a walk along the Robert Frost Trail, named after the famed poet who spent many summers in the area teaching and writing.
Following forest and mountain paths, you encounter cool rushing streams and a blaze of fall colors - gold, scarlet, and orange - en route to Silver Lake and the enchanting villages of Goshen and Stowe. A ridgeline walk atop Mt. Mansfield is unforgettable - offering breathtaking views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks, and even Canada's Mount Royal - as is a trek amid rolling pastures with grazing cows, historic farms and brightly painted barns, and sugar-maple groves.
