Idaho Guest Ranch Vacation
Nestled in Idaho's spectacular Sawtooth Valley, amidst snowcapped peaks and the meandering Salmon River, high alpine adventure and backcountry relaxation await. There is a reason the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch has flourished as a vacation retreat for almost eighty years. The living history of the Old West mingles with the solitude and peace of this 1000-acre ranch, offering freedom, breathtaking natural beauty, and a relaxed atmosphere. Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and all renovations and enhancements have respected and preserved its rich history.

Activities
The Sawtooth Valley is famous for its majestic craggy peaks, alpine lakes, winding Salmon River, and extensive trail system, and boasts some of the best outdoor recreation in the world. Among the activities to fill your days are hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, and swimming in the natural hot springs pool. Guests are free to create their own adventure or take advantage of a broad array of locally-offered guided activities, assisted by our knowledgeable staff. Guests value the opportunity to set their own agenda and pace, and enjoy a customized vacation. There's also plenty of relaxation time to take in the Sawtooth Mountains from our famous front porch, read by the fire, and soak in our natural hot springs pool.

Accommodations & Meals
The Ranch cabins and lodge rooms are charming and comfortable, with private baths with either stone showers or deep, relaxing bathtubs. Seven log cabins in duplex style, our new three-room Family Cabin, our Honeymoon Cabin and four lodge rooms provide you a home away from home in which to relax and prepare for your next adventure. And there are no phones, televisions or radios in the accommodations allowing you to truly unplug.

Head Chef Andrew Machanic, a 1993 graduate of the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont, joined the Ranch family in 2006, and has been delighting guests with his creative menus, fresh ingredients and artful presentations. Our summer dining fare, includes hearty, mouth-watering breakfasts, packed picnic lunches, and in the evening, innovative multi-course dinners, or the ultimate barbecue or Dutch oven feast. Breads, desserts and pastries from our baker's oven are irresistible complements.

Children's Activities
There are a wide variety of activities for children at the Ranch and in the surrounding area. And children always enjoy the freedom the Ranch offers. We'll help you choose the activities most suitable for your family and children's ages from the many available.

Three nights a week, staff organize front lawn games, crafts and story hour during the adult dinner hours. Children can eat from 5-6 all fine dining nights, and on these nights can then participate in these fun activities.

Past Customer Feedback
"I first visited the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch in the summer of 1992, and I've been coming back ever since. The ranch is nestled between two breathtaking mountain ranges, the White Clouds and Idaho's famous Sawtooths, and both ranges contain some of the most beautiful hikes I've ever been on. There have been many days where I've hiked to an amazing mountain lake, and not seen another human. The people are warm, the service and food are impeccable even though the atmosphere is casual. I've made some lifelong friends there, and many of us keep coming back for yearly reunions to a place that feels like home away from home. There are few places on this Earth that I would rather be than on the porch of the IRMR looking at a Sawtooth sunset. The most magical part of it all is how different my life feels while I'm there. And I keep that feeling with me all year."
